Pipedrive makes Nova meeting intelligence generally available
Nova moves preparation, capture and suggested CRM updates into Pipedrive. The operational question is how reliably a conversation becomes structured CRM state.
What Pipedrive announced
Pipedrive said on September 16 that Nova, its built-in meeting intelligence tool, is generally available. The company describes a workflow that prepares sellers before calls using CRM context, records and transcribes conversations during meetings, and drafts CRM updates afterward. Pipedrive's knowledge-base overview says Nova is included across its plans at no additional cost and does not require a separate setup step for users whose administrator has enabled access.
The knowledge base describes two capture modes: an AI Notetaker that joins as a visible meeting participant and a Nova Companion desktop application that captures system audio without a bot joining. Pipedrive also says users can review suggested CRM updates before applying them. These are product capabilities documented by Pipedrive; they are not independent evidence that a particular implementation improves win rate or seller productivity.

The meeting-to-CRM boundary becomes the product
Meeting intelligence becomes operationally valuable when the output can be connected to the right person, organization, deal and activity without creating a second narrative that drifts away from the CRM. RevOps should therefore test identity before it tests summary quality. A plausible note attached to the wrong opportunity is worse than a missing note because it looks authoritative inside the system of record.
Create test calls with two contacts from the same company, a contact linked to multiple deals, an external participant with a new email domain and a meeting that should not update a commercial field. After capture, inspect which CRM entities Nova associates with the meeting, which updates it proposes and what happens when the user rejects or edits a suggestion. Unknown identity should remain unknown rather than being resolved by convenience.
Review should show the actual write, not just the summary
Pipedrive's review step is an important control only if the operator can tell what structured data will change. A seller approving a polished meeting summary is making a different decision from approving an opportunity field, next activity or contact attribute. Sales Ops should identify which Nova outputs are narrative, which are structured suggestions and which fields can affect forecasts, routing or automation downstream.
For material fields, preserve the prior value, proposed value, meeting evidence, reviewer and final result. If the suggested update is edited before approval, retain enough context to distinguish the model proposal from the human decision. The goal is not to audit every sentence; it is to make the CRM changes that alter downstream work reconstructable.
Consent and capture mode belong in the release checklist
Meeting recording rules vary by organization, participant and jurisdiction, so Nova's capture mode should sit inside the company's existing meeting-consent policy rather than define it. Pipedrive documents participant notification and consent settings around the feature. RevOps should verify the actual settings in the target account, who can change them, and how the workflow behaves when a participant declines or recording is unavailable.
Test both supported capture paths if the team plans to use both. A visible bot and local system-audio capture can create different participant expectations and failure modes. The operating record should state which mode was used, whether capture succeeded, and whether the absence of a recording blocks CRM suggestions or simply limits the evidence available for them.
Watch duplication and stale state
A meeting may generate a transcript, summary, activity, follow-up task and structured field suggestions. Before broad rollout, map which Pipedrive objects Nova creates or updates and how those objects interact with existing calendar sync, automation and manual seller habits. Retry or reconnect scenarios should not produce duplicate activities or contradictory next steps.
Also test a deal whose stage or owner changes between the meeting and the moment the seller reviews Nova's suggestions. If an update depends on current commercial state, the review flow should make that state visible or the operating process should require a fresh check. A good meeting capture can still create bad CRM data when the destination changed after the conversation.
A practical first-week evaluation
Use a small set of representative meetings and measure evidence quality rather than business outcomes first. Track whether the correct CRM entities were matched, whether required consent behavior occurred, whether suggested writes were accepted, edited or rejected, whether duplicates appeared and whether the final CRM record can be traced to the meeting. Those measures are close to the feature and can be inspected directly.
Only after the data path is stable should a team study broader effects such as seller time allocation or pipeline hygiene, and even then the study design needs a comparison period and clear definitions. Nova's general availability makes meeting intelligence easier to adopt inside Pipedrive. It does not remove the need to prove that the information entering the CRM is the right information for the right record.
